A couple months ago I received the Ultimate Aviation DVD Series, Volume 1 in the mail. I did not order it, and haven't even watched it. To be honest I forgot all about it.

Yesterday I received an invoice in the mail telling me I needed to either pay for the DVD or send it back to them (at my expense, of course). As I understand the law, since I didn't order it I am under no obligation to pay for it or for that matter to even send it back.

I believe this to be a scam and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this?

Scam, If you send it back or pay for it they now know that there is a live person at that address and you will be "sold" to others mailing lists and get more junk mail. You will move up in status on the mailing list because you have now been verified as a real address and recipient. Your value went up from maybe a 1/4 cent to 1 or 2 cents.

You are correct that unsolicited merchandise is "free" to you and requires no further action on your part. They may try to muscle your or shame you into paying for this with additional letters, throw them away too.

Got to thank the FAA database or other AV organizations and vendors for selling us out like this.

Bob

There is very small print that says you don't have to send it back since you didn't order it. I got the same DVD and watched it - It was laughable.

No action required. The NRA did the same crap to me with a DVD last year (when I called I was told that payment was not necessary, despite the invoice), which makes me quite disinclined to renew my membership.

I got mine and did nothing after reading the fine print. Just more targets for target practice for this years hunting season.

Chad,

After your post I looked closer and saw that. Thanks. :bud:

No problem - I think these people operate on a belief that x% will buy unknowingly.

Never-Ever underestimate the power of an invoice.

I through mine in the trash when I got it. I don't even have a DVD player. Then they sent me the bill and I threw that in the trash too.

I'll be looking forward to receiving mine, then, so I can forward it to the Postal Inspection Service. That sounds like mail fraud to me (and to them, too--see https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/inve ... Fraud.aspx).

If you didn't ask for it, it's a gift. Do what you wish with it.

The DVD wasn't bad; worth watching instead of the evening propaganda (news). All of the "segments" I had seen or have since seen on TV. Basically, it is just a compilation of "Discovery Channel" type aviation shows.

I too saw the fine print about sending it back; yeah right.

Just got my second invoice so I googled "Ultimate Aviation dvd scam" and my friends at Beechtalk have saved me from even having to dial the 800 number to abuse these jerks.

Thank you.

Threw mine away too.

And while we are talking about scams, AARP has got to be the biggest, most successful ever concocted. Worst about AARP is the political arm of the socialist bastards. They would have us all on the government dole, funneled through the AARP of course, if they could.

I wish, just one day a year, that it wouldn't be illegal to kill bastards that deserve it.
