Yea, this has been going on for years. It's a no brainer. When you're tired, you rest.

A pilot (domestic) can be scheduled for 12 hrs duty.... and it can go over that. Just thinking about it makes me tired.

Cockpit naps make perfect sense.

After the Buffalo crash there was another angle, and that was pharma pushing the FAA to reduce flying restrictions on sleeping pills. The argument was that if pilots could take sleeping pills then they would sleep better and arrive at work rested.

I think that's a bunch of hooey. Instead pilots would wake up groggy and then take uppers to come out of it. It's the classic up-down problem we learned in health class. But for some reason when pharma is on the sales side it doesn't apply. :scratch:
